The Legatum Institute became a charitable organisation in November 2014 with the aim of spreading prosperity by revitalising capitalism and democracy around the world. The think tank is best known for its annual Legatum Prosperity Index™, which compares the prosperity of 142 countries around the world using eight indicators including economic growth as well as a number of social and well-being factors.
The Institute has recently made a number of significant hires including Tim Montgomerie, a columnist at The Times, who is leading the ‘Vision of Capitalism’ programme. Other senior members of the team include Anne Applebaum, Director of the Legatum Institute’s ‘Transitions Forum’ programme, Pulitzer Prize-winner and Washington Post columnist; journalist, writer and author Cristina Odone; and the historian and author, Hywel Williams.
Alan McCormick, Chairman of the Legatum Institute Foundation, said:
“We are thrilled to welcome someone of Richard’s experience and calibre to the Board of Trustees of the Legatum Institute. He has had a stellar career leading top financial services businesses in Europe and working with some of Britain’s top charities.
