UK Poverty Unit

Our UK Poverty Unit uses our poverty policy simulator to hold Government to account for the impact of policies on the most disadvantaged

Overview

Our policy simulator uses the Social Metrics Commission’s approach to poverty measurement to track and project the impact of policy measures on the most disadvantaged, including assessment of the effect on the depth, persistence, and the lived experience of poverty.

We use the policy simulator to report objectively on Government, opposition party, and regional and local government policy announcements and their impact on poverty. This allows us to support policy makers and influencers as they make financial plans and develop initiatives, and to hold them to account at moments such as the Budget and Spending Reviews.
